AB 479 … Plant-Based Food in Schools…What’s Next?

AB 479 would provide extra funding to CA schools so that students could choose a plant-based option, including non-dairy milks, at public schools.  This CA Assembly bill was introduced by Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian (D-Van Nuys) and passed through the Education Committee.

UPDATE, June 12th, 2019 (…thanks, Peggy)

We are so happy to report that AB479 has made it through the CA Assembly with 63 YES votes and only 12 No votes.

Here’s a fact sheet on it FYI: http://pawpac.org/legislation/2019/ab479-factsheet.pdf

It is now in the Senate Committee on Education. So, it’s time to get online and go to https://sedn.senate.ca.gov/

From there, you can, if you haven’t already, get a login and password, although you may have one already if you have sent in your support in the past to CA committees.

Then, click the SUPPORT bubble and write a brief note in the box.

Thank you for your support!
