Happy Hen Animal Sanctuary

On a 40-acre ranch in San Luis Obispo, Happy Hen Animal Sanctuary gives refuge to abused and abandoned farm animals from across California. Happy Hen is one of the few sanctuaries in the US that accepts animals in need of urgent care and long-term rehabilitation. We are proud to have saved nearly 1000 lives over the last 6 years, including chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, quail, cows, pigs, goats, and sheep.

Loving Farm Animal Sanctuary

Loving Farm is a farmed animal sanctuary located in beautiful Atascadero, California. We provide care and love to over 20 animals including pigs, horses, battery cage hens, dogs and cats. Tours are by appointment only. Visit their Facebook calendar for the next volunteer day or open house.

Farmer’s Market Vegan Outreach Opportunities - Looking for Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers who can take over responsibilities for setting and running our advocacy table at the weekly Thursday, downtown SLO farmer’s market.  We need 2-4 people to volunteer to staff the table to answer questions, provide literature, and help the public learn about plant-based living and veganism! If you’re interested, please complete the Contact Us form here and we’ll be in touch shortly! Thank you:)

Fall Feast – A Vegan Thanksgiving

The Fall Feast was inspired by the Feed the Turkeys events held at Farm Sanctuary. The first Fall Feast on the Central Coast was held at a private residence in 2008 and the guest of honor was Parker, a turkey that was rescued from the FFA program. Every year following, the Fall Feast has grown and has inspired many people to see that we can be thankful at Thanksgiving without having to cause any harm.

The Fall Feast menu is a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings: Tofurky and Field Roast, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gluten free rice stuffing, roasted vegetables, sweet potatoes, red cabbage, cranberry relish, pie and more! It ‘s a popular event and has sold out in the last few years. The 2018 annual Fall Feast was held at the Happy Hen Animal Sanctuary in San Luis Obispo. It was a lovely and inspiring day and all the support was greatly appreciated.
